Project Manager
Location Perry, IA
Reports to: VP of Manufacturing

Position Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced candidate to serve as a primary contact and coordinator of larger projects related to walk-in and large reach-in environmental chambers. The following list is not intended to be all inclusive and it is understood that it will take a great deal of time and experience to develop these skills and capabilities.

General Responsibilities

  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Manage the relationship with the client/customer and all stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other staff members
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs
  • Be involved with projects from planning stages through install completion (analyze chamber spec documents and facility drawings, advise engineering on facility related items, work with floor assemblers to understand each chamber, etc.).
  • Development of install and operation manuals.
  • Continuous training on any and all areas of the product line, this will be ongoing as technologies advance and product develops.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Works with Project Specialist to determine production scheduling and timing of job releases
  • Provide quotation cost estimates for installation projects to Sales team so they can determine installation pricing.
  • Conduct “Lesson’s Learned” post project meetings with engineering and install crews
  • Assist Production department with large internal projects.

Travel Responsibilities:

  • Meet with customers to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project
  • Travel to customer facilities as needed for reviewing jobsites or supporting progress. Travel is expected to be less than 25%.
  • Will be responsible for making or supporting necessary travel arrangements for project installation teams.

General Capabilities:

  • Ability to learn all aspects of the product to the point of expertise.
  • Ability to learn all computer programs necessary to perform the required tasks. (Computer tasks will include but are not limited to; development of manuals, performance logging, operation of product software, logging customer service items, etc.).
  • Ability to work with customers over the phone including listening to customer complaints and responding in a professional and thorough manner.

Requirements:

  • Proven working experience in project management
  • Excellent customer-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
  • Some travel with overnight stays

Materials Manager (Senior staff position)
Location Perry, IA
Reports to: President/CEO
Position Description:

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Materials Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will lead our supply chain operations from procurement to inventory management and material delivery within our manufacturing operations. The position is a senior staff level position and will work closely with other functional leaders and team members. Percival’s highly customized products are treated as individual projects and are built to order through Percival’s design, procurement, and manufacturing system.

This candidate must thrive in a team atmosphere with strong communication skills, professionalism, organizational skills, and self-motivation.

Although project timelines are typically fast-paced, Percival offers a relaxed, fun, and rewarding work environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Procurement and Supplier Management: Source and negotiate with suppliers to obtain materials at competitive prices and terms.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and maintain strong relationships to ensure timely delivery and quality of materials.
  • Manage and process purchase orders, ensuring accurate and timely fulfillment.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers to ensure materials meet specifications and quality standards and procurement timelines are met
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, sales, finance, and project management functions to align material management strategies with production and business goals.
  • Review new sales orders / job orders and issue direct material parts from warehouse to job orders for manufacturing operations
  • Create shortage tracking sheets/logbook for job orders and manage to resolution through supplier communications
  • Manage relationships with existing suppliers and identify and build relationships with prospective suppliers and back-up suppliers
  • Inventory Management: Develop and implement strategies for inventory control and optimization. Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations. Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies. Oversee and perform bill of material corrections & transactions.
  • Oversee the receiving, storage, and distribution of materials within the facility. Implement best practices for material handling and storage to maintain safety and quality standards.
  • Disposition of non-conforming material rejected from production and oversee general supplier quality issues through supplier corrective actions
  • Review and approve supplier invoices and submit to accounts payable.
  • Analyze inventory data to support decision-making and identify trends or issues. Develop forecasts and inventory plans based on production schedules and historical data.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor one direct report (Buyer) and two indirect reports (Warehouse and Receiving employees)
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in materials management. Explore opportunities for process modernization through new technologies, tools, analytics, or other relevant opportunities.
  • Manage KPIs for inventory and production delays for materials, blanket purchase orders, inventory cycle counting, and material information updates into operating system.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Proven experience in materials management or a related role within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong leadership, time management, organizational and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage multiple, overlapping projects and daily activities simultaneously
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of refrigeration and/or electrical systems and their supply chains
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with Made2Manage, SAP, or other ERP software
  • Experience with International Standards Organization (ISO) requirements and a union production environment

Percival Scientific, Inc. is looking to fill multiple positions for our assembly and sub-assembly processes.
Job duties include final assembly of scientific equipment, electrical and mechanical subassemblies, field installations and various other related tasks. Preferred candidates will have some level of technical experience or training in welding, powder coat painting, construction, electrical, mechanical, or similar trades. The right individual should be self-motivated, have the ability to multitask, have good communication skills, and be a team player.
