Celebrating Nearly 20 Years at Percival
Meet Ralan Nelson, one of Percival’s Customer Service Technicians. Ralan began working for the company on 9/10/2001 – one day before 9-11. He started out in the welding department and from there expanded his knowledge in assembling our controlled environment chambers. Currently, Ralan works day in and day out to help customers understand how to operate their chamber or fix them when they may not be working properly. Often times, fixing them means traveling to the customer’s location.
“Ralan is like several other people who have worked their way up from the Percival shop floor. Since becoming a member of the customer service department, he has excelled in all facets of the position,” Customer Service Manager, Don Duncan says. “He enjoys assisting customers, whether it’s a tech with troubleshooting or a researcher with questions, and takes great pride in taking care of them.”
Ralan grew up in a small town in northern Minnesota where he graduated high school. From there, he went on to tech school for auto mechanics. He only completed one year but says he learned enough to fix most issues with his cars when he needed it. “I learned most of my job skills on the job,” he says. Prior to working at Percival, Ralan actually worked in restaurant management for over 10 years.
The people and the atmosphere at Percival is what Ralan says he enjoys the most about his job. “I have always been treated with respect from everyone.”
When Ralan isn’t at work, you’ll most likely find him working on woodworking projects, cooking, playing the guitar and hanging out with his family. When he has time, he also enjoys getting outdoors and going golfing and fishing.
Thank you Ralan for your years of hard work and great dedication to Percival – we appreciate you and all that you do!
Fun Fact: Ralan is a big family man – he has been married to his wife and soul mate for almost 20 years now and together they’ve raised 4 kids. They also have 5 dogs collectively, but Ralan says his dog is Oliver (Chihuahua/Poodle mix). If he could travel anywhere in the world right now, he’d travel to somewhere sunny and tropical like the Florida Keys or the Bahamas. He’s always wanted to go to Hawaii because he likes the water and the beaches!
