Retiring from Percival after 40 Years!
Randy Watson started at Percival Scientific on September 14, 1981. He began working as Utility, then on to the Assembly department in our factory and has worked his way up to being the lead in our Refrigeration department.
“Randy has been a reliable and knowledgeable lead person in refrigeration for many years. He has helped train many employees to be successful in their roles,” said VP of Manufacturing, Jesse Smith. “Randy’s 40 years of experience will leave some big shoes for the next person to fill. His work ethic, cool demeanor and pride for the Percival product will be truly missed.”
Randy grew up in Iowa and graduated from Boone High School (roughly 30 miles NE of Perry). From there he went on to earn a degree in Building Trades at DMACC. Randy worked in construction up in Ames prior to coming to Percival. He says building and putting together the chambers was definitely his favorite part of the job.
“Randy has dedicated the past 40 years to this company, and his valuable contributions will not easily be replaced,” President and CEO, Gary Wheelock said. “We cannot thank him enough for his many years of dedication and commitment.”
Outside of work, Randy enjoys fishing and doing carpentry work. His initial plans for retirement include helping his son remodel his home. “It’s been a pleasure working here and working with everyone – I’ve seen many come and go, but it’s just been a pleasure,” he said.
Congratulations Randy – we wish you all the best in your future endeavors and thank you for all of your years of dedication to the company. Have fun in retirement! Randy’s official last day at Percival was June 30, 2021.
